Commander: Number of Iran’s military advisors in Syria unchanged

TEHRAN - A senior Iranian military commander has said that the number of personnel from the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) acting as advisors in Syria has neither decreased nor increased.

“There is no particular change in the presence of Sepah (IRGC) in Syria,” Fars quoted IRGC deputy commander Hossein Salami as saying on Wednesday.

He added that the Syrian Army’s operation aimed at taking over the city of Aleppo will continue until it achieves its goals.

The Syrian army, backed by the Russian Air Force, IRGC and Lebanon's Hezbollah, launched a massive operation, dubbed “Muharram”, on October 15, aimed at taking control of Aleppo.

Iran denies that it has deployed soldiers to fight in Syria, saying it only provides the Syrian army with military advisers.
